Following dwindling shares in the smart phones market, BlackBerry CEO, John Chen has admitted that he may eventually have to shelve manufacturing Blackberry devices. A significant increase in revenue from enterprise software pushed the company to focus more in that direction, and as a cost cutting measure, laid off some staff just recently.
He also admitted there’s pressure internally to continue making smartphones.
One of the challenges of shifting focus to software from devices is pressure from within the company to keep developing new smartphones.
With the struggle to stay relevant and attain profitability, Blackberry smartphones may just be the scapegoat.
